Description
A refreshing and hydrating watermelon smoothie with frozen strawberries, optional Greek yogurt and mint, and a touch of lime. Perfect for a hot summer day!
Ingredients
Scale
- 6 cups cubed seedless watermelon, chilled
- 1 cup frozen strawberries
- 1/2 cup plain Greek yogurt (optional, for creaminess)
- 1/4 cup fresh mint leaves (optional, for a refreshing twist)
- 1–2 tablespoons lime juice (to taste)
- 1–2 tablespoons honey or maple syrup (optional, for added sweetness)
- 1/4 cup water or coconut water (if needed, to adjust consistency)
- Ice cubes (optional, for extra chill)
- Watermelon wedges or mint sprigs (for garnish)
Instructions
- Prepare the Watermelon: Wash the watermelon, cut it in half, and slice into 1-inch thick rounds. Cut away the rind and cube the flesh into 1-inch pieces. Remove any stray seeds. Chill the cubed watermelon in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes.
- Blend the Smoothie:
- Place the chilled watermelon cubes into your blender.
- Add the frozen strawberries.
- If using, add the Greek yogurt and mint leaves.
- Squeeze in the lime juice.
- If desired, add honey or maple syrup to taste.
- If the mixture is too thick, add water or coconut water, starting with 1/4 cup, until you reach your desired consistency.
- Blend until smooth, about 30-60 seconds. Stop and scrape down the sides if needed.
- Taste and adjust sweetness, tanginess, or consistency as needed.
- If desired, add a few ice cubes and blend again until smooth.
- Serve and Garnish:
- Pour the smoothie into glasses.
- Garnish with a watermelon wedge or a sprig of fresh mint.
- Serve immediately.
Notes
- For best results, use a high-powered blender.
- Adjust the amount of sweetener and lime juice to your preference.
- If you don’t have frozen strawberries, you can use fresh, but the smoothie won’t be as thick.
- Feel free to experiment with other fruits, greens, or protein powder.
- Leftovers can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 24 hours, but the smoothie may separate. Stir well before drinking. You can also freeze the smoothie in ice cube trays for later use.
