Ingredients
Scale
- 1 pound breakfast sausage (mild or spicy)
- 8 ounces cream cheese, softened
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- 4 large eggs
- 1 cup milk
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon paprika (optional)
- 1 cup frozen hash browns (optional)
- Fresh parsley or chives for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the breakfast sausage, breaking it into smaller pieces until browned and no longer pink (about 5-7 minutes). Drain excess grease.
- In a large mixing bowl, beat the softened cream cheese until smooth. If needed, microwave for 15-20 seconds to soften.
- Add shredded cheddar and mozzarella cheeses to the cream cheese and mix until well combined.
- Crack in the eggs and pour in the milk. Add garlic powder, onion powder, salt, black pepper, and paprika (if using). Mix until well combined.
- Fold in the cooked sausage and frozen hash browns (if using) until evenly coated.
- Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish and pour the mixture in, spreading it evenly.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes, until edges are golden brown and center is set. Broil for an additional 2-3 minutes for extra color, if desired.
- Let the casserole cool for 5-10 minutes before cutting into squares or rectangles.
- Garnish with fresh parsley or chives if desired, and serve warm.
