Ingredients
Scale
- 2 ripe plums, pitted and sliced
- 1 tablespoon fresh thyme leaves (or 1 teaspoon dried thyme)
- 1 medium cucumber, sliced (optional for added freshness)
- 1 lemon, sliced
- 8 cups of filtered water
- Ice cubes (for serving)
Instructions
- Thoroughly wash the plums, cucumber, and lemon under cold running water to remove any pesticides or dirt.
- Cut the plums in half, remove the pit, and slice each half into thin wedges.
- If using fresh thyme, rinse the leaves and strip them from the stems. If using dried thyme, skip this step.
- Slice the cucumber into thin rounds and the lemon into thin slices.
- In a large pitcher, combine the sliced plums, thyme leaves, cucumber slices (if using), and lemon slices.
- Pour 8 cups of filtered water over the fruit and herbs, ensuring all ingredients are submerged.
- Cover the pitcher and refrigerate for at least 2 hours, or overnight for best flavor.
- Remove the pitcher from the refrigerator; the water should have a lovely pink hue.
- Strain the infused water through a fine mesh sieve if you prefer a clearer drink, or leave the fruit and herbs in for added flavor.
- Fill glasses with ice cubes and pour the infused water over the ice.
- Garnish with a sprig of fresh thyme or a slice of plum for an extra touch.
- Taste the infused water and adjust flavors as desired with more thyme or lemon juice.
- Store any leftover infused water in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
