Ingredients
Scale
- 4 salmon fillets (about 6 ounces each)
- 2 tablespoons gochujang (Korean chili paste)
- 4 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened
- 2 tablespoons honey
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon fresh ginger, grated
- 1 tablespoon sesame oil
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- 2 green onions, sliced (for garnish)
- Sesame seeds (for garnish)
Instructions
- In a medium bowl, combine the gochujang, softened butter, honey, soy sauce, rice vinegar, minced garlic, grated ginger, and sesame oil.
- Whisk the ingredients together until they form a smooth and creamy marinade. Ensure there are no lumps of butter or gochujang left.
- Taste the marinade and adjust the seasoning with salt and pepper as needed.
- Place the salmon fillets in a shallow dish or a resealable plastic bag.
- Pour the marinade over the salmon, ensuring each fillet is well-coated.
- Cover the dish with plastic wrap or seal the bag, and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes (up to 2 hours for deeper flavor).
- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
- Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or lightly grease it with cooking spray.
- Once marinated, remove the salmon from the refrigerator and let it sit at room temperature for about 10 minutes.
- Place the salmon fillets skin-side down on the prepared baking sheet.
- Spoon any remaining marinade over the top of the fillets.
- Bake the salmon for 12-15 minutes, checking for doneness at the 12-minute mark.
- For an extra crispy finish, switch your oven to broil for the last 2-3 minutes of cooking, keeping a close eye to prevent burning.
- Once done, remove the salmon from the oven and let it rest for a couple of minutes.
- Prepare your serving plates, ideally with steamed rice or a fresh salad.
- Carefully transfer the salmon fillets to the plates.
- Drizzle any remaining sauce from the baking sheet over the salmon.
- Garnish with sliced green onions and a sprinkle of sesame seeds.
- Serve the crispy gochujang butter salmon immediately while warm.
- Pair with sautéed vegetables or a refreshing cucumber salad.
- Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 days. Reheat gently.
Notes
- Adjust the level of gochujang based on your spice preference.
- For a more intense flavor, marinate the salmon for the full 2 hours.
- This dish pairs well with a variety of sides, making it versatile for any occasion.
