Description
This Brazilian Lemonade offers a delightful blend of tart and sweet flavors, made with whole limes and sweetened condensed milk. Perfect for hot days, it’s a creamy, refreshing drink that can be enjoyed at gatherings or as a cool treat.
Ingredients
Scale
- 4 medium limes
- 1 cup of granulated sugar
- 4 cups of cold water
- 1 cup of sweetened condensed milk
- Ice cubes
- Fresh mint leaves (optional, for garnish)
Instructions
- Wash the limes thoroughly under running water. Cut each lime into 8 wedges.
- In a blender, combine the lime wedges and granulated sugar. Pour in 2 cups of cold water and blend on high speed for about 30 seconds.
- Use a fine mesh strainer or cheesecloth over a large bowl or pitcher to separate the juice from the pulp and peels. Press down on the solids to extract as much juice as possible and discard the solids.
- Add the remaining 2 cups of cold water to the lime juice. Pour in the sweetened condensed milk and stir until fully incorporated.
- Chill the lemonade in the refrigerator for about 30 minutes or serve immediately over ice. Garnish with fresh mint leaves if desired.
- Appreciate the vibrant color and refreshing scent. Sip and enjoy the perfect balance of tartness and sweetness.
- Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for 2-3 days. Stir before serving again.
- Experiment with fresh fruits or add a splash of rum or vodka for an adult version. For a lighter drink, skip the sweetened condensed milk and use simple syrup instead.
Notes
- Adjust sweetness to your preference by adding more sugar or sweetened condensed milk.
- For a tropical twist, consider adding fruits like strawberries or mangoes.
- This drink can be made ahead of time; just mix in the remaining water and ice before serving.
