Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup water
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter
- 1 tablespoon granulated sugar
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 2 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar (for coating)
- Chocolate sauce (for dipping)
Instructions
- In a medium saucepan, combine water, unsalted butter, granulated sugar, and salt. Heat over medium until boiling, stirring occasionally.
- Remove from heat and add all-purpose flour at once. Stir vigorously until a ball forms and pulls away from the pan (1-2 minutes).
- Let the dough cool for about 5 minutes.
- Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition until smooth. Stir in vanilla extract.
- Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C).
- Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Fill a piping bag fitted with a large star tip with the churro dough.
- Pipe the dough onto the baking sheet in strips, about 4-6 inches long, leaving space between each.
- Trim the ends with scissors for a clean finish (optional).
- Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until golden brown and puffed. Watch closely to avoid over-baking.
- Let cool on the baking sheet for about 5 minutes.
- In a small bowl, mix granulated sugar and ground cinnamon.
- Roll each churro in the cinnamon-sugar mixture until fully coated.
- Arrange churros on a serving platter.
- Serve warm with chocolate sauce for dipping.
Notes
- For a fun twist, try adding different spices to the sugar coating, such as nutmeg or cardamom.
- Ensure the dough cools sufficiently before adding eggs to prevent cooking them.
